Mason Makos Update: Tuesday, October 13, 2009
MAKO Camping Trip, October 24-25 @ Burke Lake Park
Located at 7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, Virginia 703-323-6600
This team activity is open to all MAKO swimmers, however space is limited to 50 total people due to availability at the park. We will arrive at the park on Saturday at 4:00 PM and stay until Sunday at 10:30 AM. You are free to arrive later in the evening, and leave earlier if necessary, as I understand that we have several swimmers playing additional fall sports that will have games during the day. The campsite will have a nearby bathhouse with sinks, showers and toilets, a dump station, public phones, a camp store, ice, picnic tables, grills and fire rings.
The cost is $15 per person, which includes the campsite rental, dinner (hotdogs/hamburgers/chips/potato salad) on Saturday evening, and breakfast (doughnuts/muffins/juice) on Sunday morning. You will need to bring your own water and gatorade. Make sure you pack your own tent, sleeping bags, pillows, ect. All 12 & Unders must be accompanied by an adult. The coaches & I will be there to supervise the 13&Over swimmers. Please email me if you will be attending and include all names of persons attending along with their age in your email. Please mail either cash or a check, made out to HLR, LLC to the address below as soon as possible.
MAKO TRI MEET Results
WOW, what a meet!
I’d like to thank all the parents who volunteered as timers, those who worked at the concessions table & awards table, those who donated items to our concession stand, and those of you who made sure that the coaches and officials were well fed & fueled in the hospitality room. I also appreciate all the hard work and long hours the coaching staff and officials put into this meet.
Several coaches and parents complimented us on how well the meet was run this weekend, and we couldn’t have done it without our parent volunteers. We were even ahead of our timelines, which rarely ever happens at swim meets.
WAY TO GO MAKO PARENT VOLUNTEERS!
Great job MAKO SWIMMERS!
Our first swim meet of the season was very successful, and many personal best times were achieved.

Entry Guidelines
1. To enter an upcoming meet, first you’ll need to download the meet announcement, which I have provided above.
2. You will select your events, and email your entries to (makoentries@yahoo.com). Please include the name of the meet, your swimmer’s first and last name, their age on the first day of the meet, event numbers, and name of event. If you are *NEW* MAKOS, please provide your swimmers best short course yard times for each event. *RETURNING* MAKOS entry times will come from our team database*. If they have no times for a particular event, I will simply enter them with a "NT" and they will be seeded accordingly.
See example:
Swim & Rock Invitational
Ally M. Bedell, 12
Event 1 50 Breaststroke
Event 15 200 Breaststroke
3. Once you’ve emailed your entries, within 24-48 hours, you will receive an email stating "Entries Received".
4. Please print the confirmation email, and retain for your records.
5. ***MOST IMPORTANTLY*** Following the meet entry deadline, I will email the *draft* entries for the meet to all Mako families. Swimmers and/or parents must check these draft entries to determine if your swimmer is entered correctly. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT THESE DRAFT ENTRIES ARE CORRECT. If your swimmer is not listed on the draft entries, then I have (likely) not received your entries. Mako will not be responsible for any deck entries, once the entries are finalized. If you find an error in the draft entries, or if your swimmer is not listed, please email me immediately at (makoentries@yahoo.com).
The coaches determine who will swim relays for MAKO. Relays do not count in the total events a swimmer may swim in a day.
6. After the due date, I will then send out an email with our teams *final* entries.
7. Once the entries are sent in to the Meet Director, no changes can be made. All issues must be addressed before the deadline to fix any problems found in the draft entries.
8. Entry fees are deducted from your Meet Entry Fund (M.E.F), and a .25 cent surcharge will be applied to each individual entry. You are financial responsible for ALL entries -- regardless of actual participation. Any late entries, (those sent in AFTER the original due date) will be assessed a flat $5.00 fee which is deducted from your M.E.F.

Swim Meet Photographs
Mako parent and photographer Cathy Summers reports that she’s done her initial selections from last weekend’s meet, and she’ll be posting the images in her Mako Only galleries later this week, but she cautions the eager users that she hasn’t finished identifying the swimmers and loading the names into the database. Until then, you won’t be able to search on your swimmer’s name.
Please use this form to request access to the image galleries. You can also contact Cathy if you have any questions or concerns.
